The Structural Engineering Engagement and Equity project was founded in 2015 by Rose McClure and Natalie Tse. I joined the group in mid-2015 and was heavily involved in the creation of a survey of structural engineering professionals that was distributed nationwide in early 2016. The group then spent the summer of 2016 analyzing the data received from the survey, and I was the lead author of the 2016 SE3 Report, a 12,000-word document discussing the findings of the survey, associated research, and recommendations for best practices to improve engagement (satisfaction) and gender equity in the structural engineering profession.
The group was made a committee of the Structural Engineers Association of Northern California (SEAONC) in August 2016, and I served as the 2016-17 co-chair. After a group of committee members brought the committee to the national level with the National Council of Structural Engineers Associations (NCSEA), I then served as the inaugural co-chair of the national SE3 committee. See some of my work for this committee below.
